Water softening compositions specified in Examples (D and 49-53) the following ingredients are disclosed: an isocyanurate in which R 1-3 are hydrogenated tallow alkyl; as sequestering agents: pentasodium triphosphate, a polymeric phosphate of formula where n = 4-20, sodium hexametaphosphate, and nitrilo triacetic acid; soda, sodium sulphate and sodium silicate.
