Wires of oxidn. resistant steel Cr,Cr/Ni alloh or Ti(alloy) are first wound with a spiral of another metal whose electrochemical props. are baser than those of Cu, (pref. opt. Zn or Cd plate Fe or Al) and have no tendency towards passivation. After actuation, the wound wire is immersed in the acid Cu-plating bath. The lenth of the wound spiral and dia. of the wire are chosen such that the wire is completely dissolved at the end of the plating process, which yields adherent coatings despite the presence of protective oxide surface films on the original wire.
|
