<p>Nitrates of glycols and glycol derivatives are prepd. with the formula (I) or (II):- (where R is H or CH3; R' is linear or branched 4-9C alkylene; X is alkyl, phenyl, acetyl or NO; and n is 2-3; and n may also be 1 when X is alkyl, phenyl or acetyl). Used for diazotising amines in place of nitrous acid, esp. in non-aqs. media. The cpds. are less explosive & toxic than nitrates of lower alkanols.</p> |
