The metallic hollow O-rings of the present invention are characterized by being composed of a metallic shell formed continuously in the circumferential direction into a ringlike form and a continuous hollow portion formed in the circumferential direction inside the metallic shell, said metallic shell being welded intermittently or continuously in the circumferential direction. The process for producing metallic hollow O-rings is characterized by comprising a step of bending a material for metallic shell into a ring-like form so that a hollow portion is formed continuously in the circumferential direction inside the metallic shell and, at the same time, an opening portion is formed continuously in the circumferential direction in a space between the edge portions of said metallic shell, and a step of welding the edge portions together intermittently or continuously in the circumferential direction so that said opening portion is blocked partially or wholly. According to the metallic hollow O-ring of the present invention, the metallic hollow O-ring having the welded structure, which is capable of easy and mass production and is excellent in sealing performance and mechanical strength, can be obtained and the O-ring having the above welded structure can be productively produced at low cost.
