<p>Photoelectric thread sensor in which thread failure is indicated and/or appropriate control action taken if the amplitude modulation of the output signal falls below a pre-selected level. A high gain a.c. amplifier is connected to the output of the photocell and passes the amplified, gain-limited signal to a stop-motion. In an open-ended spinning machine the sensor is located directly after the spinning turbine, and the stop motion stops the turbine feed and/or take-up, preventing material accumulation in the turbine, avoiding need to clean after thread fault.</p> |
