A thermoplastic carrier bag, esp. for garments, has a stiffened edge around its fold-over mouth; the edge stiffening strip, of plastic or cardboard, is surrounded by the plastic sheet of the bag which is folded round it and welded along three edges back to the wall of the bag. Carrying holes are formed through both the bag wall and the stiffening strips. On one side of the bag, the stiffening strip is wide and has a weakened line, esp. perforated line, along its central axis and punched-out carrying holes are symmetrically arranged about this line, so that the half-width of the strip above the perforated line forms the fold-over strip for closing the bag; the other side of the bag has a stiffened edge with a single carrier hole. The stiffening strip stops slightly short of the sides of the bag. |
