PURPOSE:To reduce installation space by providing a movable punch on a mobile member and shearing a part of a preceding or succeeding strip by the punch. CONSTITUTION:The rear end of the preceding strip and the tip of the succeeding strip are cut by a linear mobile edge 27 provided on a guillotine shear 24 of the mobile member driven reciprocally by a cylinder 29 which is a reciprocatively driving device and both ends are welded and joined. The punch 42 movable in the reciprocatively driven direction is then provided on the mobile member 24. A part of the preceding or succeeding strip can be made shorn by this punch 42. Consequently, the strip joining device having the high degree of freedom capable of shearing a part of the strip at an optional point of time can be obtained. |
