1384282 Holography SIEMENS A G 22 March 1972 [21 June 1971] 13320/72 Heading G2J A holographic data store 5 is formed from an object beam and a reference beam, the object beam being conducted to an expander 9, an imaging system 7, and a data mask 8, by a flexible light guide 6, the unit forming the expander 9, system 7 and output end of guide 6 being pivoted as a unit about a point 11 on its optical axis 10. Since the system 7 only has to focus coaxial rays it may be formed from relatively cheap lenses. The lenses of the expander 9 are displaceable so that the plane of focus of the system remains in the plane of the store 5. The reference beam 4 may also pass down a flexible light guide. The data stored is binary and the store may comprise a matrix of holograms. |
