Shaped articles is produced from an aq. plastic homogeneous mass comprising (a) a protein substance consisting of at least 50% simple protein which does not coagulate with heating and (b) a water contg. compsn. The ratio (a)/(b) is 1-6/4-1. The proteinaceous material contains at least 65% protein. Composn is heated to is not 70 degrees C, but less than the protein decomposn. temp. It is then extruded using a gaseous medium to give a fashioned article essentially free from holes. Compsn is used for wrapping film or consumable tubular containers. |
