1323040 Safety closure; delivering measured quantities U SCHNEIDER 24 Feb 1972 [19 March 1971] 8701/72 Headings B8N and B8T A safety closure for a container 6 comrpises a housing 1 having a funnel-shaped first aperture 2 communicating with the container space 7, a second aperture 3 communicating with the atmosphere, and a socket 8 connecting the two apertures and carrying a ball 9 rotatable in all directions therein. The surface of the ball 9 has a depression 10 for the reception of a single dose of the contents of the container 6 whereby on turning the ball 9 the depression 10 can be brought successively to the first and second apertures 2, 3, and a marking groove 14 indicates when the depression 10 is located at the first aperture 2. Two protrusions 15 and (16), Fig. 1 (not shown) on the housing 1 extend beyond the exposed surface of the ball 9 so that it cannot be rolled on a flat surface although the ball is still accessible to a finger for turning. To enable insertion of the ball 9 the housing 1 is elastic, and it may be integral with the container 6. An airtight cap may be placed on the housing to seal the container 6.
