<p>1412247 Fastening arragements ELLIOTT BROS (LONDON) LTD 22 Nov 1972 [30 Nov 1971] 55510/71 Heading E2A [Also in Division F2] A fastening arrangment, e.g. a pipe coupling, comprises a plurality of objects 150 and a body 152 which is arranged to link the objects 150 and which forms a solid of rotation about an axis of rotation. The body 152 is divided into at least two parts along at least one dividing surface lying between the objects 150 when juxtaposed. The body 152 is rotatable about its axis of rotation such that in one position the ends of the divided parts align substantially with the dividing surface and when the body 152 is rotated from the one position each part links at least two adjacent juxtaposed objects to fasten the objects against relative movement in at least one direction. One of the objects has at least one fluid passage 151 therein and at least one of the parts has a like fluid passage 156, the fluid passages 151,156 are being so disposed that when the objects are fastened together by rotation of the one part, the fluid passage in that part is aligned with the fluid passage in the object. As shown the two objects 150 form a housing each part 150 thereof having two passages and the body has two passages corresponding passages being linked when the objects are connected. The passages are at different levels. However, with passages at the same level (Fig 16, not shown) with the objects uncoupled one of the passages in each part connects both passages in the corresponding object. Two conduits may be coupled the rotational axis of the body being oblique to the surfaces of the objects to be juxtaposed (Fig 17, not shown). The axis of rotation of the body may not be in the dividing plane of the objects.</p> |
