The valve body (1) has an inlet (2) and an outlet (4) which are connected by a number of holes (21), a chamber (19) and another series of holes (22). The holes (21) and (22) are sealed by a disc (17) which is held in place by inlet pressure applied through the hole (20). Rotating the knob (8) opens the pilot valve (16) allowing the gas in the chamber (19) to flow out through the hole (23) so that disc (17) is lifted off its seat by the inlet pressure and opens the main valve. To close the main valve the pilot valve (16) is closed so that inlet pressure is retained and presses the disc (17) on to its seat.
