1501206 Tyre curing apparatus METEC AG MECHANIK UND TECHNIK ENG 9 May 1975 [14 May 1974] 19602/75 Heading B7C Apparatus for curing the bond between a replacement tread and a tyre carcass, comprises two annular curing chambers each for receiving one or more tyres and each defined in part by radially inner and outer cylindrical walls of a common casing and in part by radially inner and outer cylindrical walls of a respective one of two doors hinged to opposite ends of the casing. As illustrated, the apparatus comprises two chambers each for receiving a single tyre. Sidewall clamping rings 16, 16<SP>1</SP>, in use, clamp the edges of elastic diaphragms 24 to the tyres. Locking of each chamber is achieved by two semi-circular, channel section bands 13 pivoted at their one ends on the casing and joined at their other ends by a toggle arrangement 14/15. Air between each tyre and the associated diaphragm is evacuated via pipe 25, and a pressurized heating fluid is introduced into spaces 4 via conduits 23 and exhausted via conduits 22. Cooling water is passed through ducts 19. The Specification also discloses an apparatus in which each chamber accommodates two tyres and in which each door is secured to the common casing by means of projections (32) on a movable ring on the casing passing through gaps provided between projections (39) on the door and being engaged behind the projections (39) upon rotation of the ring. |
