Release bearing for plate clutch - is retained on operating sleeve by extension of washer mounted on flange of sleeve

A clutch release bearing assembly has an operating sleeve (15) which can slide on the clutch output shaft. A flange (18) of the sleeve bears against the outer race of a ball bearing (13) whose inner race cooperates with the rotating parts of the clutch. The face of the flange remote from the bearing supports a washer (21). The washer (21) is extended (28) to loosely embrace the outer race to retain the bearing on the assembly. The sleeve has a radial lug (24) engaging a recess in the washer to prevent rotation of the washer. A clutch release lever bears against the washer.
