<p>A laterally extensive body of waste water (11) is treated by moving a suspended aerator device (20) continuously or intermittently through the body of water in a vessel (10). The aerator has a vertical liquid passage (24) with a restriction (25) and emits air as bubbles into the liquid at said restriction to create an aerated liquid circulation pattern that moves with the moving device along or around the vessel. Alternatively a number of suspended aerators in fixed positions may be energized in sequence to give the same effect of a moving region of circulation. <IMAGE></p> |
