The invention relates to a "telescopic supporting element" which, in the extended state, is stiff in one mode direction and consists of individual elements which are connected to one another in a jointed manner. In this case, the rotational mobility of the two respectively directly adjacent stops of two pairs of stops is limited in both the clockwise direction and the anti-clockwise direction by additional limiting parts. These limiting parts are in this case preferably constructed as transverse connecting elements of the two external attachment elements (see Fig. 1). In this way, a telescopic supporting element can be used primarily even where retraction and extension of the supporting element must take place in very short time periods, as is the case, for example, with manipulators. <IMAGE>
