A distributor (1) for fluids comprises an inlet pipe (2) attached to a main supply line, a diverging pipe section (3), a straight pipe section (4) and a number of branch lines (5) which are attached to the outlet end (8) of the straight pipe section (4). The divergence angle ( theta ) of the diverging pipe section is in the range of 8 DEG to 180 DEG , and the ratio (D2/D1) of the inside diameters at the outlet and inlet of the diverging pipe section (3) is 1.3. <IMAGE>
