PURPOSE:To execute automatically and at a high speed processing at the time of repeated both-face copying by simplifying a carrying path of transfer paper, reducing a jam, and shortening the copying time. CONSTITUTION:Pre- and post-stage image forming means 18a, 18b are coupled by a transfer paper carrying path 20 and an original carrying path 21. The transfer paper carrying path 20 connects photosensitive drums 1a and 1b and carries a transfer paper 7a to the post-stage side from the pre-stage side, and a transfer paper inverting device 22 provided on the way is constituted of a transfer paper inverting and carrying device 23 for inverting only one transfer paper 7a and carrying it to the poat-stage side immediately, and a transfer paper inverting intermediate tray 24 positioned in its lower part. The transfer paper inverting tray 24 has a partition plate 27, and the post- stage (left side) of the transfer paper inverting intermediate tray 24 becomes a feed paper part 72 for refeeding plural sheets of stored transfer paper 7a by a feed paper roller 28, and the pre-stage (right side) becomes a containing part 7 for containing the transfer paper 7a whose surface has been copied. On the post-stage of the transfer paper inverting and carrying device 23, the second intermediate tray 30 which can contain the inverted transfer paper 7a is provided in parallel to the transfer paper carrying path 20, and a switching pawl 32 for switching selectively both of them is provided.
