PURPOSE:To allow the connection of optical fibers varying in parameters to each other at a low loss by equaling the different parameters of both cores on the fusion spliced part. CONSTITUTION:The core dopant or clad dopant in the fusion spliced part 15 of the optical fibers varying in the core parameters, i.e. the optical fiber having the elliptic core 11 and the optical fiber having the circular core 13 to each other or the polarization maintaining optical fibers varying in the core parameters while maintaining polarization is diffused. The respective different mode fields are matched in the fusion spliced part 15. The optical fibers varying in the parameters are connected at the low loss in this way.
