PURPOSE:To obtain the titled yarns capable of withstanding use for a long period, by blending a specific amount of a ceramic based or metallic oxide based powdery or granular substance in polymer powder, forming the resultant blend into pellet shape, melt spinning the resultant material, then drawing and heat-treating the obtained yarns. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic based powdery or granular substance, such as cordierite, or metallic oxide based powdery or granular substance, such as alumina, having about 0.1-20mu particle diameter is blended in polymer powder, such as polyethylene terephthalate, to form a pellet-like material, which is then melt spun, cooled and solidified to provide an undrawn yarn. The undrawn yarn is subsequently drawn and then heat-treated to afford the aimed yarn without falling off of the powdery or granular substance from the polymer.
