PURPOSE:To attain endless recording and reproduction to a television signal by one frame in two revolutions of a rotary magnetic recording medium by one magnetic head by driving a gap of the magnetic head corresponding to the returned track. CONSTITUTION:In driving the rotary magnetic recording medium 1, a field signal F1 is recorded from a point (a) to a point (b) by the magnetic head 2 to record a synchronizing signal P1 for a remaining rotary angle theta at the 1st turning from the point (b) to a point (c). The 2nd field signal F2 is recorded from the point (c) to the point (d) of the 2nd turn of the medium 1 and the magnetic head 2 is moved inside so that the recording track of the synchronizing signal P2 is restored to the point (a). In this case, the magnetic head 2 is driven so that its gap is made orthogonal to the track between the points (a) and (d). Thus, the azimuth angle of the magnetic head 2 is selected to be a prescribed value or over with respect to the track between the points (b) and (c) to reduce crosstalk.
