PURPOSE:To efficiently restore ink while reducing the consumption of the ink, by providing a communication valve for opening and closing a suction tube and an air passing valve allowing said tube to communicate with the atmosphere on the way of the suction tube for allowing an ink sub-tank to communicate with a cap and separately controlling both valves. CONSTITUTION:An air passing valve 27 is closed at the time of usual restoring operation and ink is sucked in a suction pump 13 from an ink emitting orifice through a cap 14 and an ink suction tube 15 to perform the removal of air bubbles or the restoration of a meniscus. When the clogging due to the firm bonding of the ink is generated in the ink emitting orifice, a communication valve 26 is turned ON and negative pressure suction force acts on the suction pump 13 from a sub-tank 32 through an air suction tube 34, the communication valve 26, an air suction tube 25, the cap 14 and the ink suction tube 16. The ink in the sub-tank 32 is sucked along with air through the air suction tubes 34, 25 to be stored in the cap 14. Therefore, the clogging of the emitting orifice due to the firm adhesion of the ink is wetted from the outside to be dissolved to restore such a state that the ink flows smoothly. |
