<p>New diphosphides of formula R7MP-R-PR7M (I) are prepd. by reacting a diphosphine of formula R6R7P-R-PR6R7 (II) with an alkali metal (M), in liq. NH3. New diphosphines of formula R7HP-R-PR7H (III), and diphosphines of formula R7R8P-R-PR7R8 (IV) are prepd. by reacting (I) with a proton donor or a cpd. of formula R8X. In formulae, M = alkali metal; R6 = an aromatic hydrocarbon gp. with 1 or more polar substits. solely in the o- and m-positions w.r.t. P, at least 1 of which is in the o-position w.r.t. P; R7 = an aromatic hydrocarbon gp., opt. with a polar substit.; R = an at least 2C divalent satd. aliphatic bridging gp.; R8 = an aliphatic hydrocarbon gp., opt. with a polar substit.; X = Cl or Br. The initial diphosphine (II) is (R6)2P-R-P(R6)2, and the alkali is at least 4 mols. of Na, w.r.t. 1 mol of (II). W.r.t. 1 mol of alkali metal, the amt. of liq. NH3 is 1-125 (10-40) ml, opt. contg. 2.5-75 (5-50) ml of an ether (pref. a cyclic ether, esp. THF), w.r.t. 100 ml of liq. NH3. Reaction is at -100 to -35 (-80 to -35) deg. C.</p> |
