PURPOSE:To improve resolution by providing a holding circuit and >=1 pair of a matrix signal adding II circuit and a dividing II circuit in addition to a matrix signal adding I circuit and a dividing I circuit, and performing position calculation twice every time radiation is made incident. CONSTITUTION:The position of the incident radiation is found by the dividing I circuit 9 and a holding circuit 10 holds the signal of a preamplifier circuit 5. The position signal obtained by the circuit 9 is held by a position holding circuit 12 and a function generating circuit 13 generates a weight function corresponding to the position signal. The output signal of the circuit 13 is added by the matrix signal adding II circuit 14 and the dividing II circuit 15 calculates the incidence position again. The signal from the circuit 15 is based upon the incidence position found by the circuit 9, so a position adding circuit 16 corrects and outputs the radiation incidence position. When the position calculation is carried out, the position resolution can be improved by a weight function which adds large weight data to the distance between a photoelectron multiplier tube PMT 4 and the incidence position at a part where variation of the output of the PMT 4 is large and small weight data at the part where the variation is small.
