The invention concerns air distribution ducts in cold air dryers with forced ventilation. According to the invention the air distribution ducts are constructed from partial elements so that the elements can be removed from the dryer while the material being dried is still situated in the dryer by making the grate surface that lies against the material slope at an angle that surpasses the angle of repose of the material, in which the element can be lifted through the material collapsing from the sides and removed so that the material can be transported from the drying space without interfering with operation of the drying structure. By means of the method, removal of the material can be made more effective, especially as a mechanical operation, damage to the drying structures caused by emptying can be avoided and there is an alternative use for the drying area and an alternative purpose for the air distribution structures of the dryer. <IMAGE>
