PURPOSE:To save operator's labor and to allow sure cutting out by making perfect definition of contour lines by utilizing imperfect contour lines. CONSTITUTION:Cutting out processing is executed in accordance with the images held in a 1st memory section 30 in the form of vector data. The images of the type of this vector data suffice if the images contain the contour lines of the illustrations to be cut out in imperfect form. The operator is instructed to make the operation to define the contour lines by utilizing the imperfect contour lines. The segment existing near an inputted point among the segments constituting the imperfect contour lines is defined as the formal contour line when the operator input the point by a coordinate input device 53. The operator is able to successively define the segments constituting the imperfect contour lines as the formal contour lines. The operator's labor is saved in this way and the sure cutting out is executed.
