摘要 The known prepn. of an Fe oxide-contg. dehydrogn. catalyst in which N2CO3 (M=alkali metal) is used as promoter, organic materials (I) are used as porosity control agents, and the constituents are combined, formed into a perticulate mass and calcined at temps. sufficient to oxidise (I) and convert M2CO3 to an oxide is improved by effecting the calcination in 2 steps: (a) at 250-600 deg.C for 0.5-4 hr. to effect oxidn. of (I); then (b) at 700-800 deg.C for 10-60 min. to convert M2CO3 to an oxide. Is with the oxidn. prods. (of step. (a)) and CO2 of (step (b)) removed as they are evolved. Oxidn. prods. are pref. removed with a stream of gas (esp. air). Step (a) is pref. at 350-600 deg.C: step (b) is pref. at 750-790 deg.C.
