The invention relates to a rotary damper. It includes a housing (1) in an annular recess (2) of which a rotary element (7) of a rotor (6) can rotate, the rotor including a shaft (8) receiving a rotational movement. An annular elastic element (10) is located along the inside circumference of the circular recess of the housing, and the rotary element exhibits notches (11) housing the rolling members (12) which dig into the elastic annular element and thus retard the rotation of the rotor with respect to the housing.
