Method for lining pipes, which in stages involves production of a lining pipe 7 of specific length, the outside diameter of which is greater than the inside diameter pipe that it is proposed to line and which is made of polyethylene or polyethylene copolymer and at least one alpha olefin with ten carbon atoms, and drawing the lining pipe through a drawing press, which is directly or indirectly fixed to the pipe to be lined, by means of a drawing device under tensile stress, which is fixed to the front end of the lining pipe and carried through the pipe to be lined in order to reduce the outside diameter of the lining pipe, drawing the lining pipe that has left the drawing press through the pipe to be lined with outside diameter reduced to and/or maintained at a dimension smaller than the inside diameter of the pipe to be lined, the tensile stress applied by the drawing device being such that it partially limits radial expansion of the outer surface of the lining pipe after its emergence from the drawing press, thereafter allowing the lining pipe 7 to expand inside the pipe 10 to be lined by relaxing the said tensile stress, which is followed by a memory-conditioned expansion at normal atmospheric pressure and at the ambient temperature of the pipe to be lined, the pipe 10 to be lined being a pipeline embedded in the ground and the pipe 10 to be lined and the lining pipe 7 being at least 10 metres in length.
