An electrical box which is provided with a number of knock-out blanks for the insertion of cables and is intended for the installation of electrical articles such as plugs and switches and is designed as a rectangular box with a width which fits a cable track so that the side walls of the box can interact with the contact surfaces of the cable track situated opposite each other. In order to facilitate installation and removal of the most common forms of sockets, switches, telephone sockets, data sockets, etc, each end wall of the box is provided with an internal cut-out 30 surrounded by inclined sliding surfaces 31 each ending in a locking catch 32 arranged to interact with a sprung pinching device on the insert. A divider 20 with corresponding cut- out can divide the box into two halves which can be equipped separately. <IMAGE>
