Filter and ventilating panel for fitting into pre-cut aperture of e.g. electric equipment cabinet

The filtering and ventilating panel comprises a box section (20) with a flexible element (24) forming the seal around the edges where the panel fits into an aperture in a wall (10). The flexible element extends from the edge of the box section, and includes a stepped region at its remote edge which engages the fixed edge of the aperture. The stepped region is such that it offers a number of alternative contact surfaces which may form a seal against the fixed part of the wall. This enables the panel to be fitted into walls of different thickness with the most appropriate contact edge forming the seal once fitted into place. The gradation in the steps on the edge of the sealing element may for example be in units of 0.5 mm.
