The seal ring is slidably contacted and mounted in an annular groove at the peripheral surface of a shaft to seal space between the shaft and case. Several oil grooves (9) are opened to the inner peripheral surface side (8) of a seal ring body (5a) facing the annular groove. Wedge effect generation surfaces (10a,10b) are connected and extended to both sides of the peripheral direction of the oil grooves and form an inclined recess in the seal ring body.
