PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the characteristic impedance of an offset type strip line or an offset type coupled strip line easily and accurately through simple calculation employing a small general purpose computer. SOLUTION: Characteristic impedance of offset type strip lines 2, 3 arranged in parallel in two earth members 7, 8 while being shifted from the central position are calculated by executing an operational program by means of a small general purpose computer. At first, the offset type strip line is subjected to equivalent conversion by electric imaging method and then the conductor potential is derived by infinite series sum based on the principle of superposition of conductor system. Furthermore, Dirichlet type infinite series sum is obtained based on the principle of superposition of inter-conductor capacitance of an equivalent capacitor using the potential coefficient indicated by capacitance, even and odd sums are totalized and self potential coefficient is erased. The inter-conductor capacitances are then superposed by approximation and the reciprocal of the number of superposition is subjected to regression analysis by the method of least squares, the value of infinite number is estimated by extrapolation to calculate an equivalent capacitance thus determining the characteristic impedance. |
