PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide photographic emulsion which suppresses the increase of fog in long-term storage without impairing sensitivity and a silver halide photographic sensitive material using the emulsion. SOLUTION: The silver halide photographic emulsion is sensitized with an organometallic compound of the formula (R)s-M-(X)t (I) and spectrally sensitized with a dye of formula (IIa) and/or a dye of formula (IIb). In the formula (I), M is Sn, Pb, B, Bi or Tl; R is aryl, a heterocyclic group, alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl; X is halogen, hydroxy or alkoxy; (s) is an integer of 1-4; (t) is an integer of 0-3; when M is Pb or Sn, s+t=4; when M is B or Bi; s+t=3; and when M is Tl, s+t=1 or 3. In the formulae (IIa) and (IIb), Z11, Z12, Z21 and Z22 are each a group of atoms required to form a heterocycle; R11, R12, R21 and R22 are each alkyl (one of R11 and R12 is >=4C or <=2C alkyl); Y1 and Y2 are each a counter ion equilibrating electric charges; (q) is 0 or 1; L1 and L2 are each methine; and when Z21 and Z22 form benzoxazole rings, one of R21 and R22 is >=4C alkyl.
