Core protecting cap for screwing on a counter-thread (2) surrounding a lock cylinder (1) comprises a covering plate (6) covering the front surface (4) of the lock cylinder, having a rotating core protecting disk (5), and sitting on the end of a threaded sleeve (7) which is screwed with the counter-thread to position the core protecting disk against the front surface of the cylinder core. The covering plate is rotatably held by an inward-facing cover (8) of the threaded sleeve and is screwed with an internal thread (9) on the counter-thread designed as an external thread.
