The method involves providing a common oxidation supply for all burners (3), common fuel supplies (7,9) for each of first and second burner groups (4) and an additional fuel supply (11) for the second group, supplying lean fuel-oxidator mixtures to both groups with a higher fuel flow per burner of the first group than of the second group and feeding the burners of the second group with an additional fuel flow via the additional fuel supply.
