<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module that greatly improves workability as well as attaining miniaturization by multicore batch connecting to simplify optical connection of optical fibers, and also to provide a cable unit with the optical module. <P>SOLUTION: The optical module 20 includes: an electric connector 21 that can be connected to equipment; an optical element unit 23 having a plurality of optical elements 24 that convert an electric signal and an optical signal to emit light or receive light; an optical ferrule 25 in which optical fibers 12 are inserted and held in a manner optically connectible to the optical elements 24; and an optical cable introducing part 30 for introducing the end of an optical cable 4 with the optical fibers 12.
