An electrically powered sensing and monitoring system of a toothbrush (10) for indicating a brushing activity parameters to a user is disclosed. The brush (10) uses one or more sensors (15) for monitoring motion parameters in one or more dimensions. A clock measures elapsed time since beginning of motion, and calculates duration of activity and/or time elapsed since activity terminated. On or more signalling devices (14) indicate to a user time dependent events.
