PURPOSE:To obtain a refractory composition capable of reducing heat shrinkage in burning by controlling the shrinking value by mixing cerium oxide with the aggregate comprising zirconia powder and zirconia fiber. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. aggregate composed of zirconia powder an zirconia fiber is mixed with cerium oxide or a cerium metallic compound convertible to cerium oxide by burning in an amount of 10-100 pts.wt. calculated as cerium oxide to afford the aimed refractory composition. Zirconia powder used for the refractory composition is preferably zirconia powder containing stabilizer and/or porous spherical zirconia containing stabilizer. The refractory composition can be comfortably burned without generating crack even for a large-sized article or a complex-shaped article, etc. |
