PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely rewrite data stored in a nonvolatile memory in an applied system such as a home electric appliance including a microcomputer with ROM correction function and the nonvolatile memory storing a correction program. SOLUTION: This device comprises a ROM 5; a nonvolatile memory 1 storing a ROM correction program; a program reading means 3 reading the ROM correction program; a RAM 4 storing the read correction program; a ROM correction control means 2 correcting the ROM program based on the correction program; a data rewrite means 6 rewriting data in the nonvolatile memory 1; a mode switching part 7 switching the nonvolatile memory 1 to a data rewrite mode; a data refresh means 8 refreshing data in the RAM 4 at regular intervals; and a refresh determination means 9 prohibiting refresh of the RAM 4 during the data rewrite mode.
