The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for generating a caption file of an edited video. According to an embodiment, an apparatus for editing a caption comprises: a generating unit for audio-matching an original video and the edited video to generate edited information data corresponding to the difference between the original video and the edited video; and a processing unit for editing an original caption file synchronized to the original video to generate the edited caption file synchronized to the edited video by using the edited information data.
