Class 44 In a socket and spigot fastening of the form described in the parent Specification, the locking-surface 12 of the socket 9 has four abutments 14 engageable with four equi-spaced projections 18 of the locking washer 16. The washer has a slot 17 and when this is in line with a slot 13 in the socket, the fastening-pin 4 is positioned so that its lugs 5 key with the slot 17. In this unlocked position two projections 18 engage two of the abutments 14 to prevent rotation of the pin 4 in one direction. On rotating the pin 4 in the opposite direction the washer 16 moves to the locked position and two other projections 18 engage two other abutments 14. Locking is facilitated by the projections 18 being V-shaped and the abutments 14 having chamfered engagement faces 19. The spigot is drawn into engagement with the socket by rotating the pin 4, whereupon the shoulders thereon ride up V-shaped grooves 24 in the face 12 of the socket. |
