<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable browsing while a line of sight is maintained during browsing through photographic images. <P>SOLUTION: Face detection for each photographic image in a photographic image group is performed, and photographic images in which faces of people are present are extracted and selected out. In the selected out photographic images in which people's faces are present, regions of eyes in the faces are detected, and photographic images in which pairs of eyes appear are extracted. Next, photographic images in which pairs of eyes appear are extracted, and in a particular image among the extracted photographic images, the left eye and right eye of a particular face that is to be displayed first are displayed at predetermined positions on a screen. For the rest of the face images, display positions, sizes, rotation angles and the like are adjusted so that the left eyes and right eyes will be respectively displayed at the same positions as the display positions of the left eye and right eye when the particular image was displayed.
