摘要

PURPOSE:To form the plastic optical fiber having excellent transparency, workability and heat resistance by forming a fiber material of a specific polycarbonate polymer or copolymer. CONSTITUTION:The fiber material is formed of the polycarbonate polymer or copolymer having the repeating unit expressed by formula I in the main chain. The polycarbonate polymer constituting the fiber material layer may have >=2 kinds of the repeating units expressed by the formula I. There are no particular limitations for this polycarbonate except that the polycarbonate has the repeating unit expressed by the formula I. The polycarbonate may have the other repeating units in the main chain expressed by the formula I. The plastic optical fiber which has a high numerical aperture and has the excellent workability and transparency and withstands high temp. is obtd. in this way.
