1,008,343. Extensible electric cables. F. J. M. DANSARD. June 12, 1963 [June 22, 1962; Jan. 17, 1963], No. 23322/63. Heading H1A. An extensible electric cord is made by associating one or more flexible leads with a synthetic resin, shaping it as required and then heating it so that the resin shrinks, fixing the shape of the cord. In the cord shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the centre filament 1 is a superpolyamide and is surrounded by flexible copper leads 2 each covered by a braid of polyamide threads or a sheath of the same material. An outer braid 3 also of the same material is provided. The central filament may be provided with a braided cover and more than one such filament may be provided. The outer sheath may be formed by moulding a layer of powder over the leads. The cable may be set in a zig-zag formation. |
