A converter assembly comprises a converter body 10 mounted on a supporting band 12 surrounding the converter at least partially, and provided with two trunnions 14 which allow the converter to swing about a horizontal axis, wherein the converter is supported by two horizontal shafts 22 integral with the converter and mounted on two ball-and-socket bearings 24 fixed to the band near to the trunnions. One of the supporting shafts 22 may slide axially in its bearing. The ball-and-socket bearings and the trunnions may lie on the same axis. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown), these bearings may be offset towards the ends of a U-shaped half-band (12<SP>1</SP>) with respect to the vertical plane through the trunnion's axis. Elastic connections (26, Fig. 2, not shown), arranged out of the diametral plane containing the axis of the trunnions, are provided between the supporting hand and the converter body. |
