[Also in Division B7] A holder 46, Fig. 20, is suspended by a link 50 from the bolster of a rail vehicle bogie (see Division B7) and carries two brake shoes 44, 45. A ring 55 is loosely fitted around the axle box of wheel 29 and carries a tube 57 in which slides a rod 59 connected to holder 46 through bushing 61. The rod 59 and tube 57 maintain the surfaces of shoes 44, 45 concentric with wheel 29 irrespective of the relative positions of the sprung bogie frame and the wheel due to loading. Triangular shaped cross-members 48, 49 are hinged to the holders 46, Figs. 16, 17, the member 48 being suspended by levers 47 from the bolster C, a link 68 connecting levers 47, to a lever 47<SP>1</SP> pivoted at 64 to member 49 and pivoted at 69 to a brake cylinder. In operation, rod 47<SP>1</SP> is rotated clockwise about pivot 64 to move link 68 to the left and so apply shoes 44, 45 to wheel 29. The end 67 of rod 47<SP>1</SP> then becomes stationary and beam 49 is moved to the right to apply shoes 44, 45 against wheel 30. |
