A gate valve comprises a cast intermediate section 12 and two opposing fabricated sections 28, 30 each consisting of spaced side plate members 54, 56, end plate members 58, 60 abutting the side plate members and defining therewith a generally rectangular body enclosure, the end plate members having marginal portions thereof extending beyond the outer surfaces of the side plate members and being connected thereto by reinforcing means 64 and weld means 57, 72 and 66. The closure member 15 is operated through bevel gearing and a hand wheel mounted on a yoke tube 40 bolted to the upper fabricated section. Both fabricated sections are connected to the intermediate section by gaskets 24, 26 and bolts 36, the lower fabricated section being closed by a plate 77 and provided with a support structure 74 and a drain plug 79. |
