[Also in Division F2] A pallet 1 of an assembly line for carrying heavy assembly units is slidable on a slide foundation 2 and is provided in its underside with four cylindrical recesses 7 in each of which an hydraulic pressure cushion can be built up by admission of fluid. A piston 24 integral with a piston plate 23 is loaded by springs 29 to raise a gasket 19, which has radial play with respect to the piston plate 23, against springs 34, see Fig. 3, when the pressure fluid is not being introduced through a borehole 41. Introduction of pressure fluid depresses the piston 24 and piston plate 23 and opens a valve 28 to allow the fluid to pass through a borehole 26 to build up a pressure cushion, the depression of the piston 24 allowing the springs 24 to press the gasket 19 into contact with slide surface 11 on the slide foundation 2 so that lip 47 forms a seal, see Fig. 5. |
