In apparatus for detecting changes in fluid flow a resilient diaphragm 33 carrying a member 37 provided with the diffusion front 41 of a Venturi, is positioned so that the entrance aperture of the Venturi part 41 is aligned with the outlet aperture 32 of a fixed input portion 31 of a Venturi and the arrangement is such that as the fluid flow through the apparatus is increased the back pressure on the downstream side of the diaphragm increases to deflect the diaphragm 33 upstream so tilting a rod 52, mounted in a resilient tube 59, to close a microswitch 67 at the desired flow rate. The microswitch 67 is in circuit with a power supply and a relay 73 arranged to operate controls, alarms or safety mechanisms.</p> |
